About Colleen

On April 27th, 1968. Colleen Meehan Jones came into this world.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan to Tom Meehan and Bonnie Tonti. She has 5 siblings, Tom, Lorie, Patty, Danielle and Chelsea. Being the middle child she learned how to have tough skin, fight for what was right, and protect and care for others. She’s always put others before herself. These characteristics have stuck with her.

Bonnie says she’s always been sweet, nice and a big help. Some things never change…

Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happensnot by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life.” A quote that I feel my mom has lived up to and proven every day.

At 21 she welcomed Me (Shawna Nicole) into the world. She talks about how I came as a “surprise” not because of the obvious… but because she struggled with kidney disease growing up and was told she would most likely never be able to have children. For the next 11 years, we became known as “Colleen & Shawna”. We moved to Arizona in 1997 to be with family. We have created a bond like no other… soulmates. I still can’t believe how blessed I am to have a mother and best friend like her.

In 2003 she gave birth to THE MOST AMAZING little baby boy, Dylan Huber. I know I speak for my Mom when I say he is a blessing to our family. Her children have given her such passion and purpose. They are her number one priority, her greatest life’s treasure, and she would go through hell and back to make sure they are safe, healthy, happy, and loved. Unfortunately for my Mom true love had escaped her thus far.

That all changed in 2008. My Mom met the love of her life, Braun Jones. A devoted loving father, man of God, and all around great guy. She finally found the ONE. Braun also has two children of his own, Aidan and Brendon. When my Mom and Braun married in 2012, we all blended into one big family.

My Mom has always put others before herself. If you’ve been life-long friends or only recently met her you know immediately that she is a selfless woman while NEVER asking for anything in return. She has a kind loving spirit that makes you instantly drawn to her. She is a friend to many and someone you can trust and confide in. Someone who can provide guidance and sometimes tough love but without judgement. She always has everyone’s best interest at heart.

For me, she is my home, my sunshine, and my heart. Wherever she goes, I will go. When life gets overwhelming, she’s the only one who knows how to calm it. My angel here on earth.

Today, at 50 years old, she hasn’t slowed down one bit. She’s a go-getter and always will be. She has a beautiful heart of gold and she is aging timelessly (hoping I get this gene). She’s her happiest when she gets to spend time with her family and friends. Having created a special relationship and bond with my sister from another mister, Paige Thomas, she loves spending time with her precious grandbabies, Jade and Zeplyn.

Her first 50 years has impacted so many people. I pray her next 50 years will be filled with joy, good health, meaningful moments, love and happiness.

I couldn’t be any more proud and honored to know that my identity rests solely and firmly on this: I am my Mother’s daughter.

Mama, know that for as many times as I say “I love you”, I will always love you more than that.

Happy 50th Birthday, Cocoon!

Love, Babygirl
